Philadelphia Police Officer Sues Over Same-Sex Harassment Claims

The City of Philadelphia and a captain of the Philadelphia Police Department have been hit with a new federal lawsuit alleging same-sex sexual harassment and retaliation claims, alongside federal civil rights violations.

Sergeant Mark Casey, an officer of the Philadelphia PD, alleges violation of Title VII and violation of 42 U.S.C. § 1983, which prohibits deprivation of federal constitutional rights by those acting under color of state law.

“Plaintiff has been (and is still being) subjected to an ongoing, continuing and pervasive pattern of unwanted and offensive quid pro quo and hostile environment sexual harassment,” the complaint alleges. Casey also ...
