A Missouri city must pay a former pharmacist $130,000 for failing to make good-faith efforts to accommodate her diabetes, a federal jury decided.
According to Samantha Howard, her request to bring her new service dog to work at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Mo., was unlawfully denied. The dog helps her with her diabetes and inability to realize when her blood sugar drops to a dangerously low level, Howard said.
The jury awarded Howard $115,549 in lost wages and benefits and $18,451 in emotional distress damages for the bias.
