PetSafe Dog Collar Maker Can’t Shake Off Safety Deception Suit

Pet owners could be misled by alleged safety misrepresentations on PetSafe electronic dog collar training systems, a federal judge said in advancing most claims in a proposed class suit against manufacturer Radio Systems Corp.

California dog owner Steven Hernandez alleges the collars are falsely marketed as “safe” and “harmless” tools for preventing unwanted behavior in dogs when actually the electrical stimulation causes physical and psychological harm. Hernandez says his dog suffered skin and fur irritation that also made her more timid.
