Peloton Privacy Class Action Proceeds Over Data in Chat Feature

Peloton Interactive Inc. lost its bid to dismiss a proposed consumer class action alleging the company violated California privacy laws by allowing a third-party company to intercept user communications without their consent.

Julie Jones’ first amended complaint sufficiently alleges Peloton aids a third party’s collection and use of consumer data, which benefits the third party monetarily, in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act, said Judge M. James Lorenz of the US District Court for the Southern District of California.
