All three judges up for re-election on Texas’s highest criminal court have drawn an opponent, as promised by Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is seeking to push them out for stripping his office of the ability to prosecute voter fraud cases.
Paxton said this fall that he would support opponents against all three incumbents in reaction to a December 2021 decision that stripped his office of the power to unilaterally prosecute election cases. With the filing deadline for the March primary election ended Monday, Paxton is a step closer to making good on that promise.
