Patelco Credit Union Hit With Four Suits Over June Data Breach

Patelco Credit Union failed to protect the personal information of thousands of people that was exposed in a June ransomware attack and data breach, four proposed federal class actions said.

Eileen Poluk, Josh Warren, Siobhan Gallagher, and Sean McGinty alleged in separate complaints that Patelco failed to implement adequate data-security practices, encrypt or redact sensitive data, or comply with industry standards and the guidelines of the Federal Trade Commission.

Information exposed in the breach included names, addresses, contact information, Social Security numbers, and financial-account numbers, according to complaints filed between July 1 and Wednesday in the US District Court for ...
