Parking Reservation Service SpotHero Faces Junk Fee Class Suit

SpotHero Inc., a popular service that allows drivers to reserve parking spaces, unlawfully tacks on junk charges under the guise of “service fees” at the checkout page, a proposed consumer class action alleged.

“SpotHero’s practice of adding fees at the end frustrated comparison shopping, impeded competition, and led consumers to pay more for their parking spots than they otherwise would,” according to the complaint filed April 4 in the US District Court for the Central District of California.

These kinds of pricing tactics are illegal under California consumer protection statutes, plaintiff Edward Galvez alleged.
