Metropolis Technologies Inc. illegally obtained the personal information of people who parked at its parking lots from official motor-vehicle records without their consent in violation of the Drivers Privacy Protection Act, a proposed federal class action said.
The lawsuit is at least the third this year to be filed in federal court against a parking-lot operator over allegations of using license-plate data in combination with official motor-vehicle records to chase down non-paying drivers.
