Paramount Label Gets $11 Million Settlement With Comedians

Paramount Global and its comedy record label’s $11 million settlement with a group of comedians who alleged the weren’t paid proper royalties for their albums was greenlit by a Manhattan federal judge Tuesday.

Judge Vernon S. Broderick said his preliminary evaluation showed that the settlement covering a proposed class of around 120 comedians is “fair, reasonable, and the result of good faith negotiation.”

Under the accord, which was reached last August, the lawyers representing the comedians could request up to $3.6 million in attorneys fees and $100,000 in costs, which would come from the $11 million settlement fund. That request ...
