Pacific Residential Mortgage Customers Sue After Data Breach

Pacific Residential Mortgage LLC customers have launched litigation against the Oregon-based home loan company following a February ransomware attack that allegedly exposed addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account information, among other things.

Alexander Cnossen, a Washington resident, is one of several consumers who sued Pacific Residential in the US District Court for the District of Oregon.

Pacific Residential’s data security practices were inadequate, Cnossen said in his suit, filed Tuesday. As a result, he experienced emotional distress, as well as a “significant uptick in spam calls, text messages, and emails”
