P&G Plan Beats Disability Appeal by Scientist Writing Screenplay

Procter & Gamble Co.'s employee disability plan won a suit over reducing benefits of a research scientist whose seizure disorder didn’t prevent him from daily living activities or pursuing demanding hobbies like writing poems and screenplays, according to a Sixth Circuit ruling.

Reports from multiple doctors show Jean-Philippe Autran was “clearly very intelligent” and could manage his finances, cook, bike, and lift weights without significant aid, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit held Thursday.
