OtterBox Hit With Patent Infringement Suit Over OtterGrip Line

Otter Products LLC is facing a lawsuit by Scottish company SafeTray Products Ltd., alleging its OtterGrip cases are infringing a patent for a stabilizing device used for phones and tablets.

The OtterGrip is a feature on the back of the phone case that allows the user to hold the phone with two fingers. The grip presses flat when not in use.

The accused OtterBox products infringe US Patent No. 10,113,691, registered on Oct. 30, 2018, which “protects the inventions of Plaintiff in the area of stabilizing a portable computing device,” SafeTray alleges in a complaint filed Tuesday in the ...
