Ormat Nevada Inc. wants the Ninth Circuit to overturn a judge’s order barring it from starting work on its geothermal project in Nevada until April, according to a filing in federal court in the state.
U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada Judge Robert C. Jones ruled Jan. 4 that construction on the Dixie Meadows Geothermal Project couldn’t start for 90 days. The ruling was a win for a tribe and a conservation group that argued the project could damage a rare toad’s habitat and a nearby hot springs used for religious practices.
