Oregon Gets Gun Restrictions Win Years After Voters’ Approval

Oregon can finally enact tighter gun and ammunition regulations that voters approved in November 2022, as the state’s intermediate appeals ruled they’re constitutional Wednesday.

All three changes in Ballot Measure 114 are allowed under state law, a three-judge panel decided unanimously, reversing a lower court that had blocked their enforcement.

The decision is a win for Gov. Tina Kotek (D), who fought to uphold the firearm restrictions in court against a gun rights group that sought and obtained injunctive relief at the lower court.
