Oregon Fertility Clinic Beats Suit Over LinkedIn Data Disclosure

Oregon Reproductive Medicine LLC defeated a proposed class action alleging it disclosed patients’ health information to LinkedIn Corp. without their consent in violation of federal and state privacy laws.

The anonymous lead plaintiff failed to show her protected health information was disclosed to LinkedIn in violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which was necessary to show that the reproductive-health clinic violated the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Judge Karin J. Immergut of the US District Court for the District of Oregon said Wednesday.
