A decision allowing Enbridge Inc. to replace four miles of its Line 5 oil and gas pipeline should be reversed because proper procedures weren’t followed by the approving agency, Native American tribes and environmental advocates told Michigan’s appeals court Tuesday.
The pipeline crosses waters where two Great Lakes connect, and the Canadian energy giant wants to replace two underground structures with an underground tunnel. Those opposed to the project say the possibility of spills from the Michigan segment of the pipeline are too great.
