OpenAI Sued By Cameo Over Claims Sora Infringes on Trademarks

OpenAI Inc.'s Sora product is under legal fire after Cameo, the personalized video service, accused the AI giant of trademark infringement.

Baron App Inc. alleges OpenAI launched its own tool dubbed “Cameo” within Sora which allows users to create AI-generated personalized videos featuring digital likenesses of celebrities. Although Baron’s Cameo involves real-life celebrities, the company argues OpenAI‘s rollout of its AI version of Cameo occurred with blatant “disregard for the obvious confusion it would create,” according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
