OpenAI, Microsoft Beat Proposed Class Action Over Web Scraping

A sweeping lawsuit challenging the web-scraping practices of OpenAI LP and Microsoft Corp. was dismissed by a federal judge in California, who slammed attorneys for excessively long and meandering complaints.

“The development of AI technology may well give rise to grave concerns for society, but the plaintiffs need to understand that they are in a court of law, not a town hall meeting,” Judge Vince Chhabria said in a two-page order that gives the plaintiffs 21 days to file an amended complaint.
