Online DVD, Game Sellers Send Video-Privacy Claims to Arbitrator

Consumers alleging that DVD and video game sellers DirectToU LLC and Alliance Entertainment LLC disclosed their personal information to Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act must take their claims to an arbitrator, a federal court ruled.

DirectToU didn’t waive its right to compel arbitration despite having first negotiated a settlement of the plaintiffs’ second amended complaint that was later rejected by the court, Judge William H. Orrick of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said June 13.
