One Technologies Must Litigate Credit Report Claims in Court

One Technologies LP lost its bid to arbitrate federal claims alleging the company tricked consumers into singing up for “free” credit reports that weren’t actually free, because it failed to comply with American Arbitration Association rules.

The US District Court for the Northern District of Texas originally said One Technologies could arbitrate its Credit Repair Organizations Act claim, but AAA declined to administer plaintiff Vickie Forby’s dispute.

According to AAA, One Technologies failed to comply with rules—including registration of its consumer arbitration clause and payment of fees—that are necessary prerequisites to accessing the forum.
