The federal government is seeking permission to seize the baseball cards of Ippei Mizuhara, the interpreter who pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $17 million from Los Angeles Dodgers Star Shohei Ohtani.
An application filed Monday, about a month ahead of Mizuhara’s US District Court for the Central District of California sentencing hearing, requests court permission to take the cards, their boxes, a card wrap device, and plastic card protectors.
Mizuhara spent more than $325,000 from Ohtani’s account on baseball card purchases from eBay and Whatnot from January through March 2024, according to his plea deal. Included in his collection are ...
