Ohio State Sexual Abuse Cases Frozen Due to $100 Million Deal

A federal judge Wednesday halted litigation involving hundreds of people who accused Ohio State University of mishandling allegations against a now-deceased athletic doctor of sexual abuse after all but one of the remaining plaintiffs settled for $100 million.

Judge Michael H. Watson of the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio issued an order staying briefing and case management deadlines and told both sides to let him know when they’re ready to again litigate.

The order came a week after the university and those suing announced a tentative settlement with 279 of 280 plaintiffs, which came following mediation. ...
