Ohio School District Ends Teacher Suit Over Name, Pronoun Policy

An Ohio school district has agreed to pay an apostolic Protestant middle school teacher $450,000 to settle her religious freedom and free speech suit challenging its policy on gender-transitioning students’ names and pronouns.

The Alliance Defending Freedom, which represented Vivian Geraghty in the case, announced the settlement on Wednesday. The agreement brought an end to Geraghty’s lawsuit after two years, which she brought against Jackson Local School District after being forced to resign because she declined to “participate in the ‘social transition’ of students who express a gender identity inconsistent with their sex,” the ADF’s statement said.
