Ohio Justices Parse State Constitution for Trans Minor Care Ban

An Ohio Supreme Court justice was deeply interested Tuesday in how the state constitution mandates gender-affirming care for minors, zeroing in on a ban on such care that was vetoed by his father—the governor—but overridden by the state legislature.

Justice R. Patrick DeWine (R) questioned attorney Jordan Bock about the constitutional arguments against the state’s ban, including whether an unchallenged portion of the law prohibiting surgical transitions for minors would have to be put back in effect if the attorney’s arguments won out.
