Ohio Justices Mull Using AI to Translate Some Court Information

The Ohio Supreme Court received several comments, publicly released Thursday, on its proposal to allow use of artificial intelligence for some translation of court information, including some that were broadly supportive.

The proposal, which saw its open comment period end this week, would bar court officials from using AI to translate or interpret “substantive legal writings” like legal forms, court orders, or documents listing probation conditions. Officials would also be prohibited from using AI to interpret any “substantive legal proceeding, case, or court function.”
