Ohio Justices Approve Solar Farms Over Resident Opposition (1)

The Ohio Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed construction on two large solar farms in rural southwest Ohio to proceed, saying the board that approved the projects didn’t act unreasonably when it determined that the plans represent “the minimum adverse environmental impact.”

Developers can now move ahead with building on more than 1,700 acres in Preble County, 30 miles west of Dayton. Residents and landowners near the properties argued that the Ohio Power Siting Board should have required the developers to create additional reports and require additional steps regarding possible flooding, visual impacts, noise, and wildlife risks.
