Spanish-speaking employees at Honda’s East Liberty, Ohio, auto manufacturing plant face “exclusion, hostility, and discrimination” because of the plant’s English-only work environment, according to a new federal lawsuit.
Honda Development and Manufacturing of America LLC discriminates against Spanish-speaking workers because of their ethnicity and national origin by disallowing them to communicate in Spanish while working, a proposed class action filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio alleges. The plaintiffs also allege Spanish-speaking employees aren’t provided with adequate safety and other training.
