The Ohio Supreme Court on Tuesday made it more difficult for news outlets and other public records requestors to obtain information from police departments when officers are attacked.
Officers can be considered victims under Marsy’s Law, a voter-passed constitutional amendment that spells out the rights of those subjected to crimes, the Republican-controlled court said in a somewhat split ruling. Therefore, the identity of an officer can be withheld if they’re a victim, the justices said.
