Lids, the sports team hat retailer, might have missed the point of OG Slick’s “playful satire of main-stream consumerism” in allowing customers to custom-order hats with his trademarked designs without his permission, the graffiti artist wrote in a federal court complaint.
Slick, otherwise known as Richard Wyrgatsch, II, signed a limited edition product license to the New Era hat company, which is not involved in the suit, not intending to sign “a carte blanche offer for other sports wear companies to capitalize on” his LA Hands design based on a May 3, 2023 copyright “without permission, license, or even notification.” ...
