Ocean Spray’s Trademark Infringement Case Stays on Its Home Turf

A trademark infringement dispute between Ocean Spray and a competitor over a wave motif won’t benefit from being transferred from a federal court in the company’s home state of Massachusetts to one in California, a judge ruled.

Wedge Water LLC sought to transfer Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc.'s complaint to the Southern District of California to consolidate it with its own similar lawsuit against Ocean Spray. The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts denied the request, noting that employees from Ocean Spray’s headquarters in the state would be critical to the case.
