T-Mobile Deal’s $79 Million Fee Award Gets Overturned (Correct)

A $79 million attorneys’ fee award in T-Mobile US Inc.‘s $350 million settlement of a data breach lawsuit was tossed out Monday by a federal appeals court.

The lower court abused its discretion in approving a windfall result for attorneys in a case that settled within months of being filed and without extensive discovery or motions practice, a unanimous US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit said.
