NYU Scores Trial Win in Doctor’s Sex Bias, Retaliation Suit (1)

A former New York University vice chair of emergency medicine failed to prove she was fired because she’s a woman or because she complained about sex discrimination and unequal pay, a federal jury ruled.

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York jury reached those conclusions on April 16 following an 11-day trial before Magistrate Judge Valerie Figueredo. The jury also rejected the plaintiff’s claims against the dean of the NYU School of Medicine and the emergency room department chair, according to a verdict form entered Wednesday.
