NYPD Accused of Bias Against Pro-Palestine Protesters

The New York City Police Department makes protest-related policing decisions based on viewpoints favored by the department, according to two new federal lawsuits.

Protesters who promote viewpoints disfavored by the NYPD, such as support for Palestine, “are often met with violence and arrests with excessive force” and aren’t protected from harassment and assault by counter-protesters, allege two New York City residents. They claim they were injured earlier this year during a pro-Palestinian rights protest against Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
