New York City secured a record high $17 million in compensatory damages and civil penalties in the last fiscal year on behalf of residents who filed employment and housing discrimination complaints, the city announced in its annual report Monday.
That’s a slight increase from fiscal year 2024 and three times higher than fiscal year 2023, according to the New York City Commission on Human Rights, which enforces the city’s Human Rights Law.
