New York Mayor Eric Adams (D) and the Trump administration’s plan to open an immigration office on Rikers Island is at a standstill until a lawsuit challenging the order is resolved, a Manhattan judge ruled Friday.
New York Supreme Court Justice Mary Rosado granted a preliminary injunction siding with the New York City Council. The group alleges Adams’ office issued an order allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement to operate at the prison as part of a quid pro quo agreement that ensured the Justice Department dropped its corruption charges against him.
