Zantac suits in New York state courts will be combined in a Manhattan court, following a panel ruling that a unified proceeding would be fairer and more efficient than individual suits.
The New York State Litigation Coordinating Panel Thursday consolidated 40 pending personal injury and wrongful death suits, to move forward in the New York County Supreme Court. Zantac injury suits filed in the future will become part of that proceeding.
Plaintiffs allege that brand-name Zantac and its generic equivalents caused several types of cancer. They asked the panel in October to combine the suits for pretrial proceedings.
