A pair of nursing home owners in New York are accused of committing fraud and elder abuse and misusing more than $83 million in Medicaid and Medicare funds in a lawsuit filed Wednesday by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D).
James wants the New York County Supreme Court to prohibit the nursing homes from admitting new residents until the owners repay the government funds, appoint independent experts to oversee their financial and healthcare operations, and improve staffing levels.
