NY Mass Shooting Cases Against Google, Reddit to Proceed (1)

Google, YouTube, and Reddit must prove they aren’t liable for publishing content that allegedly pushed a gunman to kill 10 people in a 2022 mass shooting, a New York State judge ruled.

Erie County Supreme Court Justice Paula Feroleto denied the companies’ motions to dismiss two separate but related cases that seek to hold them accountable for disseminating “extreme and harmful” content. The companies may still prove they can’t be held responsible because they’re “mere message boards” that host third-party content, but at this stage of litigation there are viable allegations from plaintiff victims of the May 14, 2022 ...
