NY Jury to Weigh Ex-Mount Sinai Employee’s Front-Pay Claims

A former employee of Mount Sinai Hospital is entitled to a jury trial to decide whether the hospital owes him for future lost wages, a Manhattan federal judge ruled Tuesday.

The decision marks the first time a court has addressed whether front pay can be tried by a jury since New York in 2021 amended its whistleblower protection law to protect former employees and independent contractors from employer retaliation for reporting dangerous or illegal business activities, according to the judge.
