NY Judges Split Over Class Status in NYPD Discrimination Row

Brooklyn judges on Friday seemed divided over whether four Asian American New York City Police Department captains should be able to proceed as a class with their discrimination suit against the agency.

The captains’ lawsuit claims the NYPD discriminates against and refuses to promote them, but Associate Justice Francesca E. Connolly said there aren’t any statistics in their complaint showing the number of Asian captains who actually applied or showed interest in promotions and the number who were actually awarded promotions.
