NY Judge Tosses School’s Challenge to Indigenous Mascot Policy

A Brooklyn federal court again rejected attempts by a Long Island school district to challenge New York State’s policy prohibiting public school districts from using Indigenous team names and mascots.

Massapequa Union Free School District lacks standing to bring First Amendment claims against New York State, Judge Sanket J. Bulsara of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York said in his Friday decision.
