A New York appellate judge signaled Thursday that Baker Botts LLP will likely face claims from the co-founder of an investment advisory firm who was sentenced to prison.
International Investment Group co-founder Martin Silver brought unjust enrichment and breach-of-fiduciary duty claims against the firm that represented him from 2015 to 2020 and helped with a portion of his criminal case. However, Baker Botts argues the claims should be dismissed because they are duplicative of his legal malpractice claims, which were thrown out by the lower court.
