NY Doctor Loses Appeal of Money Laundering Conspiracy Conviction

A doctor from the New York borough of Queens who admitted to writing and billing for unnecessary prescriptions for oxycodone in 2022 lost a Second Circuit appeal challenging his conviction on a money laundering count.

Although Dante Cubangbang pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit promotional money laundering, he claimed on appeal that his factual admissions didn’t establish the alleged conspiracy, or the required nexus to the Southern District of New York, where he was charged.
