NY Court System Interpreters Sue for National Origin Pay Bias

The New York State Unified Court System is accused in a new federal lawsuit of systematically paying interpreters substantially less than court reporters and similar personnel because they’re predominantly “of non-United States national origin.”

The pay discrimination also occurs because the NYUCS refuses to provide discrimination-free court access to individuals who have difficulty speaking and hearing English, according to the proposed class action filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
