A New York lawyer can form a partnership with an Italian firm if the attorney confirms that training and ethical standards are comparable, according to the New York State Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics.
A New York solo practitioner had asked the bar whether the New York Rules of Professional Conduct allow for the inquirer to form a limited liability partnership with an Italian law firm, none of whose partners are licensed to practice law in the U.S., according to the Monday opinion.
