Brookdale Senior Living Inc. agreed to make renovations to several of its California nursing homes to end a long-running class action over accessibility issues at its facilities.
Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. of the US District Court for the Northern District of California gave preliminary approval of the settlement in a June 13 order. Brookdale residents in 2017 alleged six of its facilities had physical access barriers and insufficient evacuation policies, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and California law.
