Nucor to Pay $300,000 to Settle Class Suit Over May Data Breach

Nucor Corp. would pay up to $300,000 to settle a proposed class action over a May data breach under a proposed deal filed in federal district court in North Carolina.

Class members each would be eligible for reimbursement of either $7,500 in extraordinary losses from the breach or $700 in documented losses, according to the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary approval of the settlement, filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. The company informed the Indiana attorney general’s office in June that the breach affected 2,461 people.
