Nuclear Power Station Entitled To Damages From Energy Department

The Energy Department must pay additional damages to a nuclear power operator for millions in costs it incurred from the government’s continued breach of its nuclear waste removal program, the court of federal claims ruled.

The US Department of Energy is liable for some of the roughly $55 million in disputed damages alleged by NorthStar Vermont Yankee LLC for various costs incurred between 2014 and 2018 at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station in Vermont.
