The National Rifle Association shook off racketeering, but not fraud claims in a proposed class action related to its solicitation of membership fees and donations, after the Middle District of Tennessee found that donors had sufficiently alleged they were led to believe the sums would be used for the group’s core mission.
The allegation that the NRA solicited funds while knowing they wouldn’t be used to advance its mission is sufficient to proceed with the fraud claim, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee said.
