Novartis Wants to Browse Takeda Records in Trade Secrets Spat

Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. is asking a Massachusetts court for permission to sift through competitor Takeda Pharmaceuticals International‘s business records to determine whether a former employee is distributing trade secrets.

Novartis asked Middlesex Superior Court Tuesday to authorize subpoenaing Takeda’s documents, conducting interrogatories, and deposing a corporate representative to evaluate the extent to which its former employee may be sharing confidential information.

Novartis’ former employee “transferred approximately 10,000 Novartis files to his personal possession” one month before resigning from the company in May, 2023, according to the complaint for discovery. The files include “sensitive technical information, sales and ...
